NFSPMC Strengthens Media Capacity Ahead of 2025/2026 Groundnut Trade Season

The National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation (NFSPMC) has successfully conducted a capacity-building training for media professionals, aimed at deepening their understanding of the Corporation’s activities and fostering stronger collaboration with the press ahead of the 2025/2026 groundnut trade season.

The one-day training, held at the Ocean Bay Hotel in Bakau, brought together journalists from both print and electronic media outlets across the country. It also featured the participation of the Managing Director of NFSPMC, senior management officials, the Registrar of Cooperatives, and the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of NFSPMC highlighted the vital role of the media as a partner in promoting transparency, accountability, and public awareness in the agricultural value chain. He emphasized that effective communication between NFSPMC and the media is key to ensuring that farmers, cooperatives, and the general public have access to accurate and timely information about the Corporation’s programmes and initiatives.

Participants were taken through detailed presentations on NFSPMC’s ongoing, completed, and upcoming projects. These included efforts to strengthen cooperative structures, improve depot management systems, and introduce digital innovations to enhance transparency and efficiency in the groundnut trade.

The interactive session provided media representatives with the opportunity to share insightful recommendations on how to further improve information sharing and strengthen media engagement. Many participants commended NFSPMC for initiating the training, describing it as a timely and impactful step toward fostering closer collaboration between the Corporation and the media.

The training concluded with a renewed commitment from both NFSPMC and the media to work together in promoting factual reporting, enhancing public confidence, and contributing to national food security and agricultural development.
