President Barrow's Visit to NFSPMC

The President of The Gambia, H.E. Adama Barrow, visited the National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation (NFSPMC) to assess the progress of the new Enhancing Value Addition in the Groundnut Sector (EVAGs) project, sponsored by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). The project is composed of co-generation power plant and processing plant used for shelling and crushing groundnuts.

His Excellency was welcomed by the Managing Director of NFSPMC, Mr. Muhammed Njie. The event included an inspection of the various plants, with insights provided by the EVAGs Consultant and the Managing Director. His visit brought together dignitaries, including the Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Board Members of NFSPMC, Gamworks, and other notable staff.

Additionally, the visit featured the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the new NFSPMC office building.

President Barrow’s visit underscored the Government’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector and boosting value addition in groundnut production. The event highlighted the significance of these developments in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and ensuring food security in The Gambia.
